Karl-Heinz Hubbert, seen here in his canola-yellow DEUTZ-FAHR 1130 Agrotron, is both a passionate advocate and a pioneer. The yellow color of his tractor symbolizes his belief that, with increasingly scarce resources, alternatives must be explored and tested.
“The golden-yellow canola, which grows in Germany’s ‘oil fields,’ is the raw material for biodiesel production. This plant provides a renewable source of fuel for my vehicle and is environmentally friendly. Biodiesel emits only as much CO₂ as the plant absorbed during its growth. It contains no sulfur, and therefore does not contribute to acid rain, deforestation, or damage to monuments. Biodiesel is rapidly biodegradable, reducing the risk to soil and groundwater during transport, storage, and use. It is not classified as hazardous and falls into water hazard class 1. Biodiesel and conventional diesel can be mixed in the fuel tank without any problems.”
